about us

"Bedřich Smetana composed his symphonic poems Vyšehrad and Vltava after he had already gone deaf, yet he created an extraordinary work that we cherish—one we celebrate on every significant occasion, and which seems to be etched into the very soul of every child. Right now, let us reflect on who made our clothes. Let’s buy fashion consciously, care for each piece in our wardrobe with joy, and wear it with pride. We take the same thoughtful approach when surrounding ourselves with design and art in our private spaces. And alongside that, we read Czech and Slovak literature, sing our iconic songs, and watch films by Forman, Menzel, and Chytilová."

Ma vlast EDIT was established in June 2020 as a response from fashion insiders to the impact of Covid on the local fashion scene and industry. Through a sales-oriented pop-up showroom, we showcased the current work of several dozen fashion designers—both emerging and established—supporting their continued presence and creativity. We conceived the event not only as a celebration of fashion, but also as a symbol of overcoming the first wave of the pandemic and the renewed desire to connect.

Over the past five years, we have organized a total of seven events, creating a unique cultural format that brings the work of local creators closer to the general public. Our aim is to break down barriers between the world of design and everyday audiences through these events. The pop-up showrooms are not merely retail spaces—they primarily serve as places for connection, dialogue, and exchange. The atmosphere of each showroom is carefully designed to enhance the visitor experience, offering not only aesthetic value but also intellectual depth.

Ma vlast EDIT connects contemporary Czech and Slovak fashion, beauty, and design with unconventional locations—often ones not typically accessible to the public. The project also focuses on developing the platform as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue—bringing together creators, visitors, professionals, and the media.

Ma vlast EDIT was founded by Ivona Petružálková and Magda Žůrková. The current team also includes Barbora Karolína Čiháková and Karel Hladík.
